Family fun at the Royal Bath & West Show

Kids go free to the Royal Bath & West Show this year, and what better way to entertain them than to take part in the Family Trail and make the most of your visit? With more than 50 hours of entertainment at the Show each day it can be hard to see it all, so the Family Trail offers a self-guided tour around those areas most likely to enthuse younger visitors.

There are even opportunities to win some brilliant prizes, including a family trip away.

So how does it work? “There will be seven stops on the Family Trail, each offering the opportunity for children to complete an activity in return for a stamp,” says Zoe Purcell at the Royal Bath & West Show.

Family Trail brochures can be collected at each of the entrance gates or at the Royal Bath & West Show Office. “You can start the family trail anywhere you like, and complete it in any order, giving you the freedom to visit other areas of the Show along the way,” says Ms Purcell. “As well as keeping the children entertained, the Family Trail can help to navigate you around the showground, taking part in activities you may not have known about in sections you may not usually visit.”

Stops around the showground will include the Woodland & Countryside area, which is packed with activities and rural crafts; the Wookey Hole stand – where you may get to meet one of the famous Wookey Hole witches; and the Bees & Honey area, which is full of interesting facts about these fascinating creates. Other visits will include the Village School, British Cheese Awards, the Safety Zone and many more.

The prizes up for grabs are pretty special too. “If you complete more than five activities, you can enter into a prize draw to win a one-night stay at the Wookey Hole Resort for up to two adults and two children, including breakfast and tickets to Wookey Hole,” explains Ms Purcell. “Just make sure you pop your completed Family Trail leaflet into one of four Family Trail post boxes located on the showground.”

Gayle Pennington at Wookey Hole says: “The Family Trail is a great way for visitors to engage with all aspects of the Show. Taking you from area to area, visitors are guaranteed to take in all the sights and feel immersed into show life.

“We are proud to be sponsoring the Trail this year, injecting an element of fun and wickedness to the Show. Our stand-out witches will guide visitors to each destination, ensuring they don’t miss a thing – our witches do like to have their photo taken, so make sure you stop and take a snap,” she adds.

“Working with the Bath & West Show is a pleasure and it has been fun working together to create a memorable trail for families to enjoy.”
