Five reasons to visit Cereals

You are currently viewing Five reasons to visit Cereals

From live demos of the latest kit to crop plots profiling the latest developments in agronomy, plus a packed seminar programme and awarding of CPD points, Cereals has it all. Here are five reasons to visit.

1) Unrivalled live demos

The Syngenta Sprays & Sprayers Arena showcases the most accurate and efficient spraying technology. The latest sprayers will be put through their paces including air-assisted, skid unit, self-propelled, trailed and mounted sprayers. Market-leading  companies will demonstrate the latest application technology on offer to improve your farm business.

On Syngenta’s stand there will be an opportunity to meet the six Farm Sprayer Operator of Year (FSOOTY) finalists – Ashley Luke from Somerset, Andrew Manning from Hertfordshire, Steve May from Northamptonshire, Richard Darling from Bedfordshire, Matt Joseph from Shropshire and Danny Milazzo from Berwickshire

As well as spraying demos, there is also a brand new Drilling Arena with demonstrating companies including Aitchison, Amazone, John Deere, Kuhn, Mzuri, Sumo and Horizon.

For a taste of the future, don’t miss the Automation, Robotics and Drones demo, AgBot demos and In-row / Inter-row weeding display.

And if you’re on the hunt for a new farm vehicle, check out the Isuzu Driving Experience.

2) Crop plot comparisons

Farmers and agronomists can take a tour of the Agronomy Zone to see how current and future varieties are performing. With reducing input costs uppermost in farmers’ minds, breeding disease resistance into varieties remains a key goal for breeders.

Legumes are also receiving particular attention due to their nitrogen fixing ability. And growers will be able to check out herbicide and fungicide performance in the demonstration plots. Organisations exhibiting in the Agronomy Zone include Syngenta, KWS, LSPB, Rothamsted, Corteva, Premium Crops, NIAB, Bayer, Senova, DSV, PGRO and AICC.

3) Superior knowledge exchange

Cereals has two theatres running throughout the event this year – the AHDB Theatre and the Farmers Weekly New Era Theatre – giving visitors the opportunity to listen to and debate the latest thinking on the industry’s future.

The AHDB Theatre seminars cover how legislation, innovation, skills and partnerships support the continued delivery of high-quality food while meeting society’s environmental needs and the financial needs of the arable sector.

With farms needing to ensure they thrive economically while looking after and enhancing the environment, the Farmers Weekly New Era Theatre seminars will cover emerging initiatives to support farmers transitioning their businesses towards a more sustainable future.

4) Exhibitors from across the sector

Many exhibitors are attending Cereals this year, all looking to keep visitors up-to-date with the latest machinery, agronomy, policy, services, solutions and knowledge.

On the moisture management front, for example, BDC Systems will be showcasing its cutting-edge Moisture Monitoring System.

The event provides a unique opportunity to bring all of the sector’s key players together in an outdoor setting, where growers can interact with exhibitors more naturally after over two years of Covid-19 restrictions.

5) Collecting CPD points
